The word disciple means “learner” or “follower”. While on earth, Jesus spent most of his time with his disciples, teaching them about the Kingdom of Heaven and training them to be Kingdom workers. Some of his final words to his disciples while on earth are found in the Great Commission. We take this command seriously and are committed to the making of disciples through a series of classes. We call it Exploring Discipleship.Starting Point (Core class 1):
This class helps us understand the primary message of the Bible… that God loves us and wants to have a relationship with us. We will see what the Bible has to say about what it means to be a Christian and will help clear up common misconceptions. This class is great for a new believer, a person who’s interested in knowing more about a relationship with God, or even mature Christians who would like to sharpen their knowledge and skills of sharing their Faith with others. ( 4 sessions ) Exploring the Bible (Core class 2):
This class helps us understand the whole Bible, from beginning to end, and how it all fits together. Knowing the Bible 101, by Bruce Bickel and Stan Jantz, is our main resource. Whether you’re a new believer or a seasoned Christian, this class will help you understand and apply the Bible even more. ( 7 sessions ). What We Believe (Core class 3):
An in-depth look at the Articles of Faith of the Church of the Nazarene, using Gay Leonard’s book, Articles of Faith: What Nazarenes Believe and Why. This course helps us build a foundation of why we believe what we believe and understand life’s bigger questions too. ( 7 sessions ).
In the past we have taught several of these classes in a group setting, mostly on Wednesday nights. However, we are creating new opportunities for people to learn from these important core classes. Please contact the Church office for more information and to let us know if you would be interested in learning one-one-one or in a group setting. Our Church office number is: 941.488.5007
